Close your eyes for a moment and reflect on your experiences for 2019. With your eyes closed, your mind begins to flash photographs of moments that are stored in your memory. Can you see it? How clear is the picture? We are conditioned to think that having 20/20 vision is having perfect eyesight. But what exactly does having 20/20 vision mean?
Visual acuity or sharpness of vision measures your vision at 20 feet. But 20/20 vision does not mean you have perfect vision. Instead, other factors like side vision, depth perception, and eye coordination are a few other measures that way in on the perfect vision. Knowing that 20/20 vision indicates clarity of vision at 20 feet, think about how clear is your vision for this year. Do you have clarity around your goals and expectations for yourself in 2020? Think about being 20 steps ahead of your plans for 2020. 20 steps ahead of your projects, 20 steps ahead of your children, 20 steps forward on your goals. Now that we are in the middle of January, here are a couple of ways to create the perfect vision for 2020:
- Eliminating New Year’s resolutions- they are gone already anyway
- Get a word for 2020-
- Write out your plan-
- Create a vision board
- Set 1 goal per week
- Set 3 primary long term goals
- Get an accountability partner
- Pick a day during the week to reset your plan
- Plan out a self- care regime
- Reward yourself for good behavior
These 10 tasks can add clarity to your vision for 2020 and help add some sharpness to your life. Remember, 20/20 vision is not perfect. Your idea does not have to be perfect. It should just be clear. In the words of Barbra Walters, “this is 2020.”
